At the end of the day, objectivity may be hard to achieve. Whatever the mechanism by which the mediums obtained information about the deceased people, Delorme has approached these topics with an interest in his own consciousness transformation. Learning new things through the lens of science may help broaden his understanding of the world in which we live. He told me:

The science is very cold. Data. Statistics. It’s always good when we have these mediums to discuss with them, get more live interactions, do readings, tell stories. . . . Even if mediumship is not real, it has been shown to be beneficial. It helps individuals to move forward.

I think the data from these studies of mediums tells us something about consciousness that we don’t accept right now in the world. Gaining information that is beyond sensory perception tells us about the nonlocality of consciousness and extended properties of consciousness that we think are not there. . . . I’m strongly anchored in the Western scientific model, where science holds the truth. If I figure out that I have proof, at least beyond any doubt, “Okay, there is a nonlocal aspect to consciousness, or survival of consciousness,” there might be a click in my mind that allows me to go to the next stage. Just because my mind is so anchored in science, maybe my whole model will change — evolve. It hasn’t happened yet. We’ll see.
